- 1 prime rib roast (5–7 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the prime rib roast.
- Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C).
- Continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Adjust cooking time based on the size of the roast.
- Allowing the roast to rest helps retain juices.
