Description
Delicious and flaky beef empanadas cooked to perfection in an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of empanada dough discs (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Add cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Take an empanada dough disc and place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center.
- Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.
- Repeat until all the dough and filling are used.
- Spray the empanadas lightly with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
- Remove from the air fryer and brush with beaten egg for a shiny finish.
Notes
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like salsa or guacamole.
- You can add cheese or vegetables to the filling for extra flavor.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking.
