Air Fryer Beef Empanadas: 5 Steps to Crispy Perfection

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Delicious and flaky beef empanadas cooked to perfection in an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package of empanada dough discs (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
  2. Add cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Take an empanada dough disc and place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center.
  5. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.
  6. Repeat until all the dough and filling are used.
  7. Spray the empanadas lightly with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  8. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.
  9. Remove from the air fryer and brush with beaten egg for a shiny finish.

Notes

  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like salsa or guacamole.
  • You can add cheese or vegetables to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking.
