Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Form the mixture into patties of your desired size. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the beef patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  6. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes, if desired.
  7. Once cooked, remove the patties from the air fryer and top each one with caramelized onions. Serve on toasted burger buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
  • If you prefer your patties well done, cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite seasonings or toppings.
