Description

Enjoy a delicious and healthy twist on traditional shawarma with this easy Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma Wrap recipe. Perfectly seasoned chicken wrapped in a warm pita with fresh vegetables and creamy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large pita breads or wraps
  • 1 cup lettuce, chopped
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup hummus or tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and coat them well with the spice mixture.
  4. Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice golden-brown exterior.
  5. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
  6. To assemble the wraps, spread hummus or tzatziki sauce on each pita, add lettuce, diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and sliced chicken.
  7. Roll the pita tightly around the filling, secure with a toothpick if necessary, and enjoy your Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma Wrap!

Notes

  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables or toppings such as pickles or olives.
  • For a spicier version, add some chili powder or hot sauce to the chicken marinade.
  • Leftover chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
