  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Delicious and crispy calamari rings made in the air fryer for a healthier twist on this classic dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb calamari rings, cleaned and patted dry
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  4. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Dredge each calamari ring in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Dip the floured calamari rings in the beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Place the coated calamari rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not touching for even cooking.
  8. Spray the calamari lightly with cooking spray or olive oil spray.
  9. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with lemon wedges and marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure calamari rings are completely dry before coating for the best crispiness.
  • You can season the panko breadcrumbs with additional spices for extra flavor.
