Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour or chickpea flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Pulse until combined but still slightly chunky.
- Add the flour and pulse again until just mixed. The mixture should hold together when pressed.
- Form the mixture into small balls or patties, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly brush or spray the falafel with olive oil for added crispiness.
- Place the falafel in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they aren’t touching.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper or your favorite hot sauce to the mixture.
- Serve with tahini sauce, yogurt sauce, or in a pita with fresh vegetables.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
