This air fryer whole chicken recipe yields a perfectly crispy skin and juicy meat, all in less than an hour.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (about 45 lbs)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
  2. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and place it in a large bowl.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken, then sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary all over the chicken. Rub the seasonings into the skin and inside the cavity of the chicken.
  4. Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the lemon halves.
  5. Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket. Cook for 30 minutes.
  6. After 30 minutes, carefully flip the chicken over so that it is breast-side up. Continue cooking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
