Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently a few times until it comes together.
- Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick. Cut biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, allowing them to touch slightly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra flaky biscuits, do not over-knead the dough.
- You can add herbs or cheese to the dough for added flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
