Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (skin on or off, your preference)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
- to taste black pepper
- for garnish green onions (sliced)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper until well combined.
- Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the brown sugar mixture over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.
- Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the salmon fillets skin-side down (if applicable) and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
- Carefully flip the fillets and cook for another 4-5 minutes, brushing with extra marinade until the salmon is cooked through and caramelized.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of lime juice to the marinade.
- Serve with steamed vegetables or over rice for a complete meal.
- If using skin-on salmon, ensure the skin is crispy by cooking skin-side down first.
