Instructions

  1. Prepare a campfire and let it burn down until you have hot coals.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  7. Grease a cast-iron skillet or baking dish suitable for campfire use.
  8. Pour brownie batter into the prepared skillet, spreading it evenly.
  9. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil and place it over the hot coals.
  10. Cook for 20-25 minutes, checking occasionally until the center is set and a toothpick comes out clean.
