Description
This rich and creamy chocolate ice cream is made from scratch and is perfect for satisfying your chocolate cravings on a hot day.
Ingredients

- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and cocoa powder over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
- Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- If desired, mix in chocolate chips during the last few minutes of churning.
- Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- Scoop and enjoy your homemade chocolate ice cream!
Notes
- For a richer chocolate flavor, add more cocoa powder to taste.
- You can also mix in nuts, caramel, or other toppings during the churning process.
