  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Indulge in the rich, gooey goodness of Chocolate Lava Cake, where a molten chocolate center flows out with every bite. Perfect for special occasions or a sweet treat at home, this recipe is sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until pale and slightly thickened.
  4. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, followed by the flour and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet for easy handling.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges look firm but the center is still soft.
  7. Remove from the oven and let sit for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin to loosen the cake.
  8. Invert each ramekin onto a dessert plate and gently release the cake. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • Make sure not to overbake; the center should remain molten for the signature lava effect.
  • You can prepare the batter ahead of time and refrigerate it in the ramekins. Just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
