Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey or chicken
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 6 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • Sliced cheese (optional)
  • Fresh veggies for topping (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey (or chicken), breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into burger patties.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, add marinara sauce on top of each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese, if using.
  5. Serve the patties on whole wheat buns with fresh veggies.
