  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large, oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and sear for about 5-7 minutes until crispy and golden brown. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and thyme (if using).
  5. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the chicken thighs in the skillet. Add the butter on top of the chicken.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  7. Baste the chicken with the sauce halfway through cooking for extra flavor.
  8. Once cooked, remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, broil the chicken for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of cooking.
  • This recipe can be made with boneless chicken thighs as well; just reduce the cooking time by about 10 minutes.
