Description
A spicy and sweet chicken sandwich topped with hot honey for a delightful kick.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Pickles
- 1/2 cup hot honey
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- In another bowl, mix together flour and cornmeal. Remove chicken from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Remove chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- To assemble the sandwiches, place a fried chicken thigh on the bottom half of each bun. Drizzle hot honey over the chicken, then add lettuce and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can double-dip the chicken in the buttermilk and flour mixture.
- Adjust the amount of hot honey to your taste preference.
