  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup hot honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, honey, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
