Description
A classic Philly Cheesesteak recipe featuring thinly sliced beef, sautéed onions, and melted cheese served in a hoagie roll.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz)
- Optional toppings: mushrooms, jalapeños
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers (if using) and sauté until softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet, then add the thinly sliced steak. Season the beef with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix the beef with the vegetables and stir to combine.
- Lay the slices of provolone cheese over the beef mixture, allowing it to melt. Alternatively, you can use Cheez Whiz.
- While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls open and lightly toast them if desired.
- Once the cheese is melted, scoop the cheesesteak mixture into the hoagie rolls.
- Add any additional toppings you desire and serve immediately.
