This Smoked Salsa Verde recipe brings a smoky twist to a classic green salsa, perfect for dipping or topping your favorite dishes.

- 10 tomatillos, husked and halved
- 1 medium onion, quartered
- 2 jalapeño peppers, halved
- 4 cloves garlic, unpeeled
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
- Place the tomatillos, onion, jalapeños, and garlic directly on the smoker racks.
- Smoke the vegetables for about 1 hour or until they are tender and slightly charred.
- Remove the vegetables from the smoker and allow them to cool slightly.
- Peel the garlic cloves and add all the smoked vegetables to a blender or food processor.
- Add the cilantro, lime juice, and salt to the blender.
- Blend until you reach your desired consistency, either smooth or chunky.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
- For a spicier salsa, keep the seeds in the jalapeños.
- You can also roast the vegetables in the oven if you don’t have a smoker.
