This Strawberry Shortcake Trifle is a delightful dessert that layers fresh strawberries, fluffy whipped cream, and cake for a perfect summer treat.

- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 pound pound cake, cut into cubes
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Stir gently and let sit for about 30 minutes to macerate.
- In another bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with the remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
- Add half of the macerated strawberries over the cake layer, followed by half of the whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, strawberries, and whipped cream.
- Top with additional strawberries for garnish if desired.
- Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- You can substitute pound cake with angel food cake or sponge cake if desired.
- Feel free to add a splash of liqueur to the strawberries for an adult version.
- For a lighter version, you can use light whipped cream or Greek yogurt.
