  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This Strawberry Shortcake Trifle is a delightful dessert that layers fresh strawberries, fluffy whipped cream, and cake for a perfect summer treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 pound pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Stir gently and let sit for about 30 minutes to macerate.
  2. In another bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream with the remaining 1/4 cup granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  3. In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  4. Add half of the macerated strawberries over the cake layer, followed by half of the whipped cream.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, strawberries, and whipped cream.
  6. Top with additional strawberries for garnish if desired.
  7. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can substitute pound cake with angel food cake or sponge cake if desired.
  • Feel free to add a splash of liqueur to the strawberries for an adult version.
  • For a lighter version, you can use light whipped cream or Greek yogurt.
